Whoever likes ski touring once dreamt of Chamonix Zermatt: the authentic itinerary from Mont Blanc to Matterhorn, from France to Swizerland. The most renown ski tour in the world links two mountaineering world's capitale through glacial passes and beautiful peaks. Unmissable.

Itinerary

D 1/ Argentière - Grands-Montets (3297 m) - Trient hut (3170 m)

Meeting at the train station in Argentière, in Chamonix valley, at 10:30 am. We take the Grands-Montets cable car. From this overlook, we can admire the whole Mont-Blanc range and it seems like we can almost touch the Aiguille Verte and the Drus... We warm up by sliding down to the large Argentière glacier before a short uphill to the hut. The guide will present the program, equipment and techniques for everyone's security. Diner and night in the hut.
A: 1300 m. M: 550 m.

 

D 2/ Fenêtre de Saleina (3267 m) - col des Ecandies (2790 m) - val d’Arpette (1640 m)

Gorgeaus stage in a true high mountain landscape. The way up to the Chardonnet pass is a very classic route. From there, a short downhill leads us to the Fenêtre de Saleina. After crossing the Trient glacier, the Ecandies pass opens up the way to the wide val d'Arpette. Diner and night in a comfortable hostel.
A: 1000 m D: 1800 m

D 3/ Gentianes pass (2903 m) - Momin pass (3003 m) - Prafleuri hut  (2624 m)

Transfer to Chable and cable car up to the Gentianes pass. We leave the crowded slopes behind to reach the Chaux pass (2940 m) and the Momin pass. We can climb up the Rosablanche (3336 m) if the conditions are good. Ski down to the Prafleuri hut.
A: 850 m D: 950 m


D 4/ Prafleuri  - Roux pass 2804 m) – Dix hut (2928 m)

We first reach the small Roux pass, from where we can see the whole itinerary for the day. Descent on la Barma (2500 m), on the bank of the large Dix lake along which we ski before going up to the Dix hut through the "pas du Chat".
A: 800 m. D: 500 m


D 5/
Dix hut - Pigne d’Arolla (3796 m) - Vignettes hut (3158 m)

We are back on the glaciers and the Serpentine path is there to tell. We reach the top of Pigne d’Arolla, easy but beautiful panoramic viewpoint. Great downhill to the Vignettes hut.
A: 850 m. D: 700 m.

D 6/ Evêque (3392 m), Brûlé (3213 m), Valpelline (3568 m) pass - Schönbiel (2694 m) - Zermatt (1616 m)

Long stage today, one of the most beautiful of the trip. Through the Eveque, mont Brulé and Valpelline pass, we reach the Tete Blanche plateau and catch a first glance on the Matterhorn. We slide down to Schönbiel Hütte, at the bottom of Matterhorn's north face and go on through the cute log canins of Zmutt to reach Zermatt in the afternoon.
A: 1130 m. D: 2450 m.
