In the Gran Paradiso National Park, from the floowered meadows to the high passes, a glacier trek to finally climb the summit of Gran Paradiso, 4061 meters high. This trek will offer you an extraordinary experience in Italy, in one of the most preserved mountain range in the Alps.

Itinerary
D 1/ Cogne – Valnontey - Vittorio sella hut (258 4m)
Meeting at the tourist office in Cogne. Transfer to Valnontey (1666 m). Hike up in the forest to Vittorio-Sella hut, our basecamp for two nights. Your guide will present the program, the equipment and the techniques for orienteering and security.
4 h hike. A: 950 m.
With a lighter bag, we climb the Punta Rossa de la Grivola. From the hut, we hike up the valley towards the Lauson pass, then heading north in a funnel-shaped slope. We reach a small plateau at 3100 meters, residue of the Ghiacciaio de la Rossa, a little glacier that almost no longer exist. We get to the Rossa pass (3195 m) and then cross under the rock face of Punta Rossa, to the ridge then the summit. The panorama is beautiful, with a view on all the main peaks of the northern Alps. Back to the hut through the same pass.
D 2/ Rossa pass (3195 m) - Punta Rossa de la Grivola (3630 m) - Vittorio Sella hut
5 h hike – A & D: 1050 m.
D 3/ Vittorio Sella hut - Lauzon pass - Chabod hut (2750 m)
Hike up to the beautiful Lauson pass at 3296 meters, probably meeting ibex and chamois!
We reach Valsavarenche, second large valley edging the Gran Paradiso range. Hike down in the Leviona pastures before crossing under the Timorion and Grand Neyron glacier. A last steep but safe passage gets us to the ridge under Pointe Money. We reach the welcoming Chabod hut, where we spend the night.
8 h hike. A: 1400 m . D: 1200 m.
D 4/ Chabod hut - Gran Paradiso - Vittorio-Emanuele hut (2732 m)
Very early start, using headlamps, heading towards the summit of Gran Paradiso! It looks like a luminous caterpillar walking along the Laveciau glacier. We pass under the Petit Paradis then uner the Gran Paradiso's north face towards the pass at 3300 meters on the "tête de Moncorvé". At a place called the "donkey's back", we meet the classic route from Vittorio Emanuele hut and go on to the summit where stands a statue of the Virgin Mary. Hike down on the Gran Paradiso glacier to discover the Italian atmosphere of the large Vittorio-Emanuele hut (2 732 m).
8 h hike. A: 1320 m. D: 1330 m
D 5/ Vittorio-Emanuele hut – Gran Paradiso pass – Becchi pass - Pontese hut
Nice overview of the south side of the range. This stage is wild and out-of-the-way and offers a new view of the mountain, with its granite peaks contrasting with the glaciers of the north side. From the Gran Paradiso pass (3345 m), through the Becchi pass (2990 m) to Pontese hut (2200 m) where we will spend our last night in this little but comfortable and welcoming hut. The hostess is know for her cooking!
8 h hike. A: 850 m. D: 1375 m
D 6/ Pontese hut – Di Teleccio pass (3304 m) – Cogne
We head south to close the loop around this great Italian range. Hike up towards the Pointe Ondezana (3492 m) then down along the Ondezana glacier to the Teleccio pass (3304 m). Back to the village of Lillaz through the Val di Valeille. Transfer with the local shuttle to Cogne.
8 h hike. A: 1250 m. D: 1700 m.
