D 1/ Arêches-Beaufort
Meeting at Christiana hotel in Arêches at 11 am. We settle down in the hotel. Warm up tour for today, maybe the first for some of you. We use the ski lifts to reach the ridges and little peaks around and ski in the wild and remote canyons. Short uphills. Tranceiver exercises. Back to the village in late afternoon. The guide will present the program, equipment and techniques for everyone's security.
D 2/ Clou lake - Roche Plane
Depending on the snwo conditions, we drive as far as possible to reach the pastures around the Clou lake, small glade in the pine tree forest. From this plateau, we can easily reach the top of Roche Plane. After the pic-nic, we ski down in the small valleys, by the forests and "chalets".
4 h ski. A: 600 m. D: 1000 m.
D 3/ Soufflet lake and "chalets" - Lakes pass.
Ski lifts to gain altitude and leave the slopes heading towards the Bathie pass (1889m). Uphill to the lakes and "chalets" of Soufflet, under the "pointe de la Grande Journée", classical hike in Beaufortain in summer. We reach the pass and discover the great view on an amphitheater overlooked by the Roche pourrie, the Mont Mirantin and the Pointe de la Grande Journée. Behind you, tomorrow's tour: the Grand Mont. Downhill back to Arêches.
3 h ski. A: 350 m. D: 1050 m.
D 4/ Grand-Mont
We use the ski lifts once again to reach the Forclaz pass, at almost 2300 m. The way to the top is easy and the view is breathtaking at the top of Grand Mont: from the Mont Blanc real close to the southern Alps. After the pic-nic, great downhill down to Arêches. End of the tour at the hotel around 3 pm.
3 h ski. A: 400 m. D: 1600 m.
