Leaving Bayeux-famous for its tapestry and well-preserved medieval town-the route leads to the D-Day landing beaches, beginning with Arromanches-les-Bains and the remains of the Mulberry harbor, a powerful reminder of D-Day. As you follow the coastline, you encounter Gold Beach, then Omaha Beach, where monuments and cemeteries pay tribute to the fallen soldiers. The Pointe du Hoc, with its steep cliffs and craters, offers a striking view and a poignant account of the battles. Further on, Utah Beach reveals its D-Day museum and long, peaceful shores-witnesses to Allied bravery. The route then continues along the Cotentin coast, exploring its seaside resorts, until it reaches Mont Saint Michel, towering above the vast bay-the grand finale of your cycling journey through Normandy.
