Level 3: An average of 4 to 5 hours of hiking per day on well-marked trails and/or 600 to 800 meters of vertical gain, and/or distances up to 15 kilometers.Level 4: An average of 6 hours of hiking per day on well-marked trails or off trail, and/or 700 to 1000 meters of vertical gain, and/or distances of 15 to 18 kilometers.
Level 5: An average of more than 6 hours of hiking per day off trail or on rugged terrain, with more than 1000 meters of vertical gain (and/or distances up to 20 kilometers). Possibly sections at high altitude.
Level 6: An average of more than 7 to 8 hours of strenuous hiking per day off trail or on rugged terrain, with more than 1000 meters of vertical gain and/or distances up to 20 kilometers. Possibly sections at high altitude.

Hike the legendary Alta Via no. 1 trail through the Dolomites! This through-hike takes you from Lake Braies, the jewel of the Northern Dolomites, located just a stone's throw from the Austrian border, to the beautiful mountain town of Belluno. During your journey, pass through several of the Dolomites' legendary "gruppi" (sub-ranges), from the more Germanic-flavored Southern Tyrol to the very Italian region of Venetia. As you make your way from hut to hut, enjoy exploring the spectacular geology of this truly unique mountain range as well as learn all about the singular history of a mountain culture straddling the border between Northern and Southern Europe.

The price includes / does not include

Accommodation as described, either in twin/double room in hotel (day 1) and dormitories.
- Breakfasts from day 2 to day 10.
- Dinners from day 1 to day 9 (except at the Pederu refuge on day 2).
- The roadbook (as well as maps and reservation vouchers) for a 4-person group.
- In case of emergency, a 24/7 telephone service in English.
- Access to the new mobile phone application (including GPS guidance).
The price does not include:
- Transportation to the meeting point at the start of the trip and from the point where the trip officially ends.
- Public transportation and chairlifts during the tour.
- Pack lunch (about €10-€15 per lunch depending on the location).
- For reservations made less than 15 days before the start, all additional fees for priority processing.
- Insurance for trip cancellation/interruption, lost/stolen baggage, or assistance.
- Everything not described as "included".
Other
expenses:
- Local transport transfers: around €20 per person for the Lagazuoi cable car and around €4 per person for the shuttle on the last day to reach Belluno.
- Dinner on day 2 at the Pederu refuge: around €25 per person.
- Shower in those huts that charge a fee (around €2 to €4, depending on the location).
- Entries to sites, monuments, museums.
- Drinks and tips.
Currencies
Better to have cash in the most remote areas to purchase extras (ex.: for drinks). Huts do not always accept credit cards.
